Hello all.
I was directed here by Garnet as the board I've been RPing on for, gosh, about 10 years I think, is really, really really slow at the moment.
This place is feeling like Nirvana, actually, as one of the first things I read when having a mooch around mentioned good grammar- and I will admit to being a bit of a grammar nazi. (Good grammar is just polite!)
When it comes to RPing, whether PbP, table top or video games, I tend to prefer fantasy (high or low), horror, modern and adventure type settings. I don't usually love heavily derivative settings save for things that are based on an incredibly rich world to begin with, like Star Wars etc. I struggle a bit with getting myself motivated for post-apocalyptic or heavily jargonistic sci fi, but if the story outlined by the DM is interesting enough then I'll give it a good go.
Let's see... anything else relevant...
I take a LOT of time over posts- I'll spend hours over them, so obviously am more suited to things with more detail and that don't move too quickly. I live in Ireland so if threads are moving kind of quickly the time difference has occasionally caused problems if people were desperate for quick responses, but usually it's not too much of an issue.
I'm more of a thread joiner than a thread starter. I haven't ever been able to work myself up into DMing a thread solo (although I've been involved in detailed world creation and co-DMing) because I know I'd put a huge amount of pressure on myself for everything to be perfect, lol- and, frankly, I just want to enjoy the story rather than driving it.
I think my RPing skill is reasonable ('better than some', as Garnet put it ) ; I've a decent vocabulary (lol), put effort into what I'm writing, and am fairly easy going in regards to how the DM wants the story to develop etc.
Ah, I think that about covers it. Seems like there's a good standard here, and a lot of detail and effort (and y'all seem kind of adorable, lol) and I've been twitchy for lack of a creative output recently (and our RL tabletop game is kind of on hiatus over the summer holidays) so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.
Oh, and I like 4E. There, I've said it
